I was born and raised in Bartonville (Peoria), IL where I graduated from Limestone Community High School.  In 1999 I completed my Bachelor’s degree in History-Secondary Education from Western Illinois University and shortly thereafter I worked for a brief time at Woodruff High School in Peoria.  Beginning in 2000, I started my employment at Carl Sandburg College for the TRIO Upward Bound program as the UB Advisor. In 2006, I became Director of TRIO Upward Bound, a capacity in which I served until August of 2018 when I accepted my current position as a Social Studies teacher at Galesburg High School North.

Outside of GHSN, I spend a lot of time with my family, which includes my wife Crystal and our two kids.  In addition to following my kids in their extracurricular activities, I also coach jr. high school girls basketball, with this being my 3rd season.

Mission at North

“Having gone to college to become a teacher, I’ve always wanted to be in a position where I can help a student in achieving their goals, whatever those may be.  GHSN provides the type of supportive environment aimed at student success and I could not pass up the opportunity to join the North family and work with the amazing group of students who call GHSN home.”

Amy Gugliotta, Alternative Instructional Facilitator

Jeff Kramer, Math Teacher

I was born and raised in Avon, Il. and graduated from Avon High School in 1993. I had a passion for teaching after watching my mom teach first grade for many years and having a dad that was always active in our youth sports; coaching baseball and basketball for my teams as a kid. After high school, I attended the University Of Illinois, but found my roots back closer to my hometown in Macomb. I graduated from Western Illinois University in 2000. I got my first teaching job in Abingdon, teaching math and social studies at the middle school level. I taught in this district for 16 years. During the years I was teaching in Abingdon, I also coached girls basketball for 14 of those years and cross country for 3 years. I also met my lovely wife while teaching in Abingdon. We got married in July of 2005 and in 2007 we were “blessed with my adorable and amazing daughter”, who teaches me something new everyday. My hobbies include watching sports (Cubs, Bears, and the Fighting Illini), playing golf, and enjoying game time with my family.

Mission at GHS North:
After interviewing with Mr. Spring and Coach Anderson, I was convinced Galesburg North was the place for me. I enjoy the team approach to helping students succeed and obtain their goals. For math, I emphasize and facilitate students learning through real world application and point out that math is around us, everywhere: discovering patterns and relationships helps students make connections and appreciate math so that someday, their passions and dreams come true.

Jordan McDonald, English Teacher

I am from Peoria, Illinois, where I lived near my family before moving to Galesburg ten years ago. In Peoria, I was a proud student of District #150 attending Woodrow Wlison, Washington Gifted, and Peoria High before attending the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana for my bachelor's degree in English. I received my teaching certification from Illinois State University and have taught at GHS North since it's opening. I did leave for brief period, but quickly returned home to the staff, students, and school that I love. While teaching, I have received my master's degree from Western Illinois University with a certificate in the teaching of writing, and plan to pursue my doctorate at a later date.

Mission at GHS North
My mission at GHS North is to do whatever it takes to help the success of each student. I value focusing on meaningful relationships with students that promote positive growth and maturity in their lives to make them college, career, and life ready.
